MSSM CRICKET CARNIVAL

Pulau Pinang 28 Mac 2013 –  In the U18 category, Penang breezed through to the semi finals of the MSSM cricket tournament by  beating Perak easily. Penang fielding first restricted Perak to a paltry 40 runs in their 30 overs. Captain Thevan Ray led the bowling by capturing 7 wickets for 4 runs in his 6 overs. Penang passed the score in the 13 over with 4 wicket ini hand. In another quarterfinal match KL easily defeated Melaka by 130 runs.

In the quarterfinals match between Kelantan and Pahang, Kelantan  managed to upstage last years champion Pahang. Kelantan batted first and scored 120 runs in 30 overs. Muhd. Faiz Nasir top scored for Kelantan with 37 runs, with Muhd. Wafiq Irfan adding anothers 33 runs. Pahang could not match the batting total of 150 runs and only managed 50 runs. Abdul Fatah Ibrahim bowling well to get 5 wickets for 9 runs in 6 overs. Match won by Kelantan by 70 runs. Kelantan will face penang in the semi-finals tomorrow morning 8.30  at USM.

Result WP Kuala Lumpur vs Melaka

WPKL 161 runs all out.

WPKL won by 130 runs.

Result Kelantan vs Pahang

Kelantan 120 runs in 30 overs.

Mohd. Faiz Nasir 37 runs.

Mohd.Wafiq Irfan  33 runs.

Abdul Fatah Ibrahim 5 wickets 9 runs  6 overs.

Pahang 50 runs all out

Kelantan won by  70 runs.

In the U12 quarterfinals, Perak and Selangor beat their respective opponents in style Perak playing against Terengganu beat their opponents easily. Tight bowling by Perak bowlers restricted ti Terengganu by 40 runs in their 25 overs. Perak easily passed the score ini 9^th over with man of the match Mohd. Aslam top scoring with 30 runs not out. At the SMV Batu Lancang ground, Selangor batsman Muhammad Nabil bin Azhar saved Selangor by heating 28 runs not out to bring the Selangor total to 143runs in 25 overs. In reply, Melaka only managed to score 20 runs. Selangor will meet Perak at the SMV Batu Lancang on Friday 8.30 am in the first semi-finals.
